This device can be used with or without external power, providing a reliable connection in either scenario. However, adding power to the line can reduce the drain on camera and computer batteries. The TetherBoost Pro USB 3.0 Core Controller comes with an optional USB DC cable for adding a USB external battery pack (sold separately) or AC power (adapter included).
