Spectroscopy can be used to analyse materials in an object, however it is NOT for looking directly at the sun. It is worth noting that the instrument separates light into the wavelengths which make up the light; it is important to have knowledge of what a particular material's signature looks like to be able to identify it. Unfortunately, the product won't be able to identify cesium, it is better to use specific chemical tests. The diffraction grading has 500 lines/mm and it does not have IOS software available. Customers' experiences are overall positive. Although, it is noted that it is a bit hard to use for little kids, they are adequate for middle schoolers. The build quality is sound, and it works great for classroom use. The accuracy is not great, but for the price, it is a good purchase. Buyers can angle the spectroscope just right and look through the viewing hole to get an accurate reading. It is possible to create lab assignments around this tool.
